Bigtime steelheading on Trinity river! It is still a bit early to report daily hook-ups on steelhead on the Trinity river but it can be rewarding for the guy who try's for a true trophy, a wild Trinity steelhead. Andy Church from South Lake Tahoe hooked and released this awesome 11 pound wild steelhead on the Trinity river below Douglas City, Ca. while fishing with Dave Jacobs of Professional guide service in early August. A backtrolled kwikfish is what it took to fire up this steelhead into biting. The two spent a couple of days for salmon and steelhead and did catch and release another 10 pound wild steelhead and an impressive 17 pound chinook salmon with a few jack salmon and smaller adult chinook's mixed in. The Trinity river is one of three rivers that angler's can catch and keep Fall salmon on this year. All wild steelhead must be released and only hatchery steelhead can be retained. It is said to be a great run of both fall salmon and steelhead this year.
