Well the fun times out deep had to end. Most of the fish I've been getting out in 22ft of water are the dink cutthroat measuring on average about 7 inches. Not worth the time to deal with deep setups. I moved into the Owens channel this morning in about 16ft of water and almost immediately we had a double hookup with both fish being over 20"  (see photo). Stripping has been great with punk perch and hornbergs being the hot ticket. You definitely want to make sure your flies are down where the fish are. Usually getting the grab after letting everything get to the bottom after only a couple of strips. Most of the fish are chowing on Red and Gray midge patterns with red working up til around 10:30 or so, and gray afterwards. The North arm seems to slow down significantly around 11, so I've been heading to Hilton and have been picking up mostly browns in there. I had a guy in his float tube kick over to me the other day asking me to take a photo of his gigantic brown (see photo) so they're definitely in there. They are a lot deeper there though, outwards of 23ft. A lot of guys have been fishing in McGee, but It's been getting kind of crowded and I've been staying away. Honestly, there are fish all over right now, and the next day I have off, I'm going exploring. Crowley is fishing as good as it's been all season and October is usually a great month to get out here!
