Bass fishing is starting to take off now, and many anglers reporting double digit days. The largemouth are still a bit scattered from 1’ to 20’ all over the lake. All types of finesse techniques have been working on fish averaging from 1 to 3 pounds. No sign of any panfish yet, but should be coming on soon. There were a few blue catfish caught, with John Ray of San Diego getting top honors landing a 22 lb. kitty on a nightcrawler.

The bass bite is starting to heat up here, as the fish begin to move up and back. There are still largemouth down to 40’ and it seems the better fish have been on secondary points. Up shallow its been mostly buck in the 1lb. and 2lb. range. The bass bite improved by the end of the week. Some anglers reported up to 15 fish on a variety of baits and depths. Bass in the 1’ to 15’ depths were biting senkos, ned rigs, and Texas rigs; while the deeper largess were taking 4” robo worms on the drop shot.
