Striper boils have slowed down over the past week but have still been seen along the canal and in the Yellowbar area during the early morning hours. Anglers have been somewhat successful trolling the lake using heavy Kastmasters, umbrella rigs and deeper diving jerk baits. Lugworms, mackerel and anchovies have been working well form the shoreline to catch both stripers and catfish along the canal and off the rip rap in front of the boat shop. Largemouth and smallmouth bass have been biting down deeper on finesse style baits like drop shots, senkos, and flukes to manage the grass. Early morning hours have been producing top water bites along the grass lines of the lake for bass occasional boils around Chumash Island, Spanish Point, and Serrano areas. Catfish have still been biting throughout the day throughout the coves of the lake.
