Schools

Plenty of schools to choose from after a rather long morning of marginal yellowtail production fueled by a maddening lack of kelps. Beyond the 14:00 hour activity was almost non stop as school after school of small to midsize bluefin toured around on the surface. As was the case yesterday most of the devils were finicky and reluctant to bite. But they did react the majority of the time engaging all of us in the effort believing that a bite was eminent. Fishing hard until the end we scratched enough late to feel the effort was worth it. Now comes a relocation for the final day shifting the focus to bluefin in a new zone. Seeking bigger and better, both in quantity and quality, we'll see if the fish gods favor our efforts on the back end. Unbelievably beautiful weather ensures that regardless of production luxurious comfort is guaranteed. Photo today features Royal Star angler Tony Alkire with his afternoon prize.
