Howd'y, Merit here today. This morning we headed west up the coast with 23 eager anglers out for a 3/4- day of rockfish catching. Our first stop bent the rods with some nice coppers of 2 to 4 pounds. After that tapered off, we went spot to spot, first in 250 feet, then as deep as 320. We picked a few good ones from each, but no great shakes, just steady. Along the way we found several zones with lots of small chillies that we decended back and went on our way. Also, we encountered others with really nice reds and more coppers, 3 to 5 #. Right at the end, "last drop" actually, it went full speed on huge copper and red. So we put in a little OT and finished limits for all, even a 2 or 3 that hardly wet a line. Today in addition to bait, the iron works pretty well, but that had mostly to do with the anglers fishing it, all high end glow flatfall-slow pitch style gear. A group of 6 did this. Otherwise it was all about 10 ounce double dropper rigs baited with a fresh sardine strip or squid strip. Really nice reds again today.
Count: 132 copper, 66 red, 21 bocaccio, 11 Bosco, 12 dabs. Released some small stuff, and lings.

Our next trip is Friday is 1/2 day trip. It is a go! The Stardust is a go with plenty of room 3/4 day fishing Thursday and Friday. Please make reservations from the website or call the landing 805-963-3564
