As the weather improves so does the trout fishing on Big Bear Lake. Trolling right out in front of the marina has produced well. Steve Douglas of Murrieta worked "Trout Triangle" (Eagle Pt., Solar Observatory and Lagonita Pt.) for a nice limit shown below. Curt Dills of Fish Big Bear Charter Service landed a 4.32 lbs. Rainbow while trolling "The Triangle" at three colors of leadcore. Be sure to vary lure selection and color depending on time of day and catch rate. Shore fishing remained good as the pink meat holdovers showed along the North Shore on PowerBait and nightcrawlers from Windy Pt. to the dam..

Water temperature held at 47 degrees and the largemouth bass are starting to show on plastics in the shallows. The trout are spawning up the creeks and anglers are reminded that you can not target these fish in the creeks and only in the lake where the current stops flowing from the creek.

Big Bear Marina is proud to announce that we are a Berkley Pro Shop! We will have a full line of Pure Fishing Products that includes Berkley, Pflueger, All Star, Stren, Penn, Abu Garcia, Spiderwire, Fenwick, Mitchell, Shakespeare and all of the PowerBait and Gulp Alive baits.

Poor weather kept most anglers off the lake this past week. As the weather improved so did the fishing. Trollers are starting to get in on the action as the waters warm and the trout come out of their spring spawn. Leadcore line at three colors with Luhr-Jensen needlefish in tow worked well. Copper chicken wing and nickel bikini finishes got the best results. Shore fishing remained good as the pink meat holdovers showed along the shoreline on PowerBait and...... Read More
