Lake Almanor multi-species fishing breaking loose

Multiple species have been in the bag at Lake Almanor lately, reported Doug Neal at Almanor Fishing Adventures. "We have been getting everything lately, salmon, browns, and rainbows", said Neal. "Trolling has been the method of choice. Best results are downrigging at eight to 18 feet early, then adjusting down to 21 and 31 feet. We got rainbows early, and then got into a mix of brown trout and a bunch of little salmon from 12 to 16 inches. Good lures include Luhr Jensen Needlefish, threaded crawlers, Rapalas, and Seps Pro Secrets."

Neal added, "We have been averaging seven or eight fish in the box every day for the past week. We had our first triple hookup of 2009, with one salmon and two rainbows hitting our gear at the same time. Best fish was a 3.1 pound rainbow. We have also had several doubles."

Trolling has been the method of choice. "Early on, we downrigged at eight feet and 18 feet, producing some clean rainbows. Later in the morning we adjusted...... Read More
