Lake Isabella Fish Report for 11-17-2023
Isabella fell to 37 percent of capacity and the lake appears to be stabilizing
Lake Isabella - Lake Isabella, CA (Kern County)
by Chad Burton and Chris Borden
Isabella fell to 37 percent of capacity and the lake appears to be stabilizing. Over the last month the Bass bite has been excellent. It’s still more of a quantity over quality game here, with an occasional better model in the mix. Our contacts reported scoring bass with drop shot, Ned rigs, jigs, and crankbaits. Anglers have reported seeing large amounts of bass chasing shad all over the lake. The catfish bite has been very consistent on Dip Baits, cut baits and shrimp. Crappie have been more consistent the last few weeks with quality stringers of fish reported. Anglers putting in the time are finding them around structure in 15 to 25-feet of water with live shiners and minijigs. The DFWL stocked trout here last week and the bite has been fair to good. Trout can be taken with Powerbait, trout jigs and spinners.
