Lake Isabella Fish Report for 2-9-2024
Isabella lake rose slightly to 38 percent of capacity, and the weather slowed things here this week
Lake Isabella - Lake Isabella, CA (Kern County)
by Chad Burton and Chris Borden
Isabella lake rose slightly to 38 percent of capacity, and the weather slowed things here this week. Before the storms rolled through, bass were on the rebound. Lately, the bass bite is still on the slower side with anglers having to put some work in to get a bite. Bass can be found off primary lake points in 20 to 35-feet of water with deep diving crankbaits, jigs, big worms, and crawdad imitation baits. Our contacts reported decent trout action near Reds Marina. Shore anglers have been scoring with trout jigs, garlic scented Powerbait, spinners and pinched crawlers. Trolling leadcore near the dam with Tasmanian Devils, needlefish and flicker shad have found some takers. The DFWL have scheduled the next trout stocking here during the week of February 18th. Crappie fishing remains fair to good with live shiners and minijigs in 15 to 25-feet of water. The best action has come near offshore structure. The 33rd Annual Isabella Lake Fishing Derby is scheduled for March 23-25, 2024.
