Castaic Lake held near 76 percent of capacity, and fishing was decent. Water temperatures were nearly 60 degrees. Bass anglers found fish in deeper water, and finesse rigs got bites. Drop-shot, Carolina rigs, and Ned rigs all produced on brown, purple, and dark green plastics. The spoon bite is expected to stay effective through winter. Striped bass chased umbrella rigs in 30 to 50 feet, and some anglers picked up fish on vertically presented spoons. Catfish anglers reported steady action on dip baits, cut baits, and chicken liver.
