The Department of Fish & Game has stocked the lake on Thursday December 15th at the West ramp with 900 lbs. of trout.
Fishing has been a little on the slow side for the stripers but some anglers are getting lucky on top water baits with these random boils that keep popping up. Spooks and Flukes are still the baits pulling in the few stripers that have been biting. The stripers don't hang around too long but you can still find a few looking for trout at dawn and dusk around the marinas.
The buoy line hasn't had too much action but when they are biting, its wide open. Sardines and anchovies are a good start for the buoy line as well as around Kong Island and the mouth of Elizabeth Canyon. The largemouth bass are still hitting on some plastics but are being more lethargic than in recent weeks. The coves on the west side of the fish arm have been holding a lot of largies that are hanging around in about 15 to 25 ft. of water.
The catfish bite was really good this past week, not many big ones but a lot of 3 to 5 pounders. The lagoon action has been doing about the same, not too much going on cause the largemouth are pretty lethargic down there too.

12-12-2011The Department of Fish & Game will be stocking the Upper lake with Rainbow Trout the week of December 11th. Striper fishing is still a little stagnant and very spotty throughout the day. Some small boils have been reported in the fish arm, but at most they only last for about 15 to 20 seconds. Top water lures, if you can find a boil, have been working to bring in the 3 to 5 pounders. Swimbait from the...... Read More
Fishing is fair to good at Lake Castaic right now
Castaic LakeThe Department of Fish & Game stocked the Main Ramp of the upper lake with 3,000 lbs. of rainbow trout. Stripers still haven't really keyed in on the swimbaits yet but the trout are doing very well at both ramps still. Trout are biting on PowerBait and Kastmasters in pretty shallow waters for most of the day. The few stripers that have been coming in are being caught in the morning hours off swimbaits by the dam....... Read More
