Prado Lake, located in Chino, CA, within Prado Regional Park, is a 60-acre lake known for year-round fishing and accessibility. Managed by San Bernardino County Parks and supported by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife’s stocking schedule, Prado Lake provides anglers with dependable action for both trout and catfish.
Rainbow trout are stocked from November through early April, typically weighing 1–3 pounds. Anglers find success with PowerBait, nightcrawlers, and small spoons or spinners. Catfish become the primary target from late spring through early fall, stocked regularly with fish averaging 2 to 5 pounds. Cut bait, chicken liver, and stink baits fished near deeper water structure are most effective.
Additional species include bluegill, redear sunfish, and largemouth bass. Sunfish are active in summer and provide easy catches on worms. Bass fishing peaks in spring and fall with soft plastics and crankbaits.
Fishing is restricted to the shoreline; boats are not permitted. The park provides a fishing pier, picnic areas, restrooms, and trails. A state fishing license is required for anglers over 16, along with a park entry fee.
Prado Lake offers a balanced fishery and family-oriented environment. Its clean facilities and regular stocking make it a reliable destination for local and visiting anglers alike.
