It has been some tough fishing out on Castaic this past week. Most fish caught have been deeper and off finesse style baits. The largemouth and smallmouth have been difficult to locate, but anglers able to find schools of them are able to hook into a few fish. Some deep diving jerk baits and weighted swimbaits have also been working. Striper fishing has been tough as well with most fish coming off the troll or down deep on cut bait. Main lake points and deeper drop offs have been the areas to target. The trout bite has been decent even with the last plant being over two weeks ago. There is still a good amount of holdovers and there has been some good sized rainbows caught. Most action has been on bright colored Power-baits and smaller trout lures. We are also expecting another trout stocking this week. Fish and game has officially put Castaic up on the fish plant schedule. Catfish have been hard to locate with the colder temperatures. Bluegill and crappie still are biting but are getting a lot harder to find. The lower lagoon has been the place for those species.

Spoons and small spinners have also been working for a few fellow anglers. The Largemouth and Smallmouth bass fishing has slowed down...... Read More

Weather has finally been manageable lately with not too much wind to worry about. With that being said, fishing has been tough the past couple weeks. Anglers using live shad have been having productive days still, with some quality fish in the mix. The bait has been a lot harder to find and boils have slowed as well. Shad imitation lures have also been working such as flukes and some other reaction baits. The drop shot has also been rewarding...... Read More
