We finally received another trout stocking at the upper lake. This time around they ended up dumping the trout over off the West ramp. They supposedly put in around 700 lbs. of rainbow trout. There have been good reports coming back of anglers catching their fair share of trout, but has been getting tougher and tougher as days go by. Most catches have been off Power-bait and Kastmasters. Trout worms and smaller swimbaits have also been working. The striper bite has remained tough, with anglers reporting a few smaller sized models off anchovies, sardines, and lug worms. There have been a few anglers able to find some schools down deep and get them to bite off spoons and ice jigs as well. The largemouth and smallmouth bite is slowly improving with more action being reported each passing day. Most bites have come off nightcrawlers or a plastic worm on the drop-shot. Some guys have been able to manage a limit using reaction style baits, but it has been a tough grind. Most fish are being caught in deeper water. The catfish are still biting here and there while anglers are soaking cut bait for stripers. Using mackerel or chicken liver can better your odds. The bluegill and crappie bite has improved as of late and there have been a couple reports of some decent limits out of the upper lake. The lagoon is still producing decent largemouth and crappie off spoons and ice jigs.
