Anglers have been able to still manage decent trout since the last plant a week ago. Most catches have been off the West ramp because of where they put them in at this time around. Power-baits and trout lures like Kastmasters have been working the best. Bright and natural colors have been the ticket, along with garlic scents. The largemouth have slowly started to bite better this past week with temperatures getting into the 80’s out on the lake. Most fish have been caught on the drop-shot or Carolina-rig with a bait fish colored plastic. Oxblood and morning dawn are two colors that have been working for Robo worms. There is a cold front coming in and we’re expecting the temp. to drop to in the 50’s. That might change the bite. Stripers have been harder to come bye and most fish have been caught on cut bait or on the troll. Sardines, anchovies, and lug worms have been working best, with shad style swimbaits and spoons also getting a little attention. Catfish have been biting here and there while soaking cut bait in deeper water for stripers. Mackerel and chicken livers can better your chances though for this species. The Crappie have been biting decent as of late and a lot of anglers have managed a limit. Wax and meal worms have worked fine, with smaller crappie swimbaits and spoons also working. The lower lake has been good fishing from reports, with most fish coming off spoons and ice jigs in deeper water. A lot of the bites have been off a boat or kayak.
