Labor Day weekend was brutal in the sense that it was over 110 degrees most of the weekend. Luckily, it is starting to cool down and the lack of pressure on the fish while we were shut down because of the fires has helped pick the bite back up. There has still been boils going off, mainly first thing in the morning. Both stripers and bass have been going off. The stripers will be more out on the main lake and the bass in the pockets and coves. Wherever there is baitfish there is usually bigger predatory fish around. An array of baits has been working such as tip water and flukes. The bass stop boiling usually when the sun hits and taper off until later in the evening. Some angler shad been doing well with the good old drop shot. Shad and natural color worms have been working the best.
The Bluegill and Crappie are still biting decent, with most catches coming off wax and meal worms. The trout bite has slowed down a little, but anglers are still managing a few in deeper water. The catfish are still biting off cut baits and nightcrawler. The fresher the mackerel and anchovies the better.

Trout fishing has still been decent with most catches coming off Powerbiat and garlic nightcrawerls. Anything of garlic scent has been doing the best and the brighter colors for the dough bait. There has been talk of boils first thing in the morning and later in the evening for the most part. Most fish have been caught off smaller spoons and shad like baits.  The largemouth and smallmouth have been boiling as well. Most fish have been caught off fluke style...... Read More
