The water level hasn’t dropped anymore this past week and rose about 10 feet from where it had been. With that said we are still at a very low water level right now. Hopefully we will start to see them raise the level around November-December of this year based on the progress with the construction. They seem to be getting close to finishing. Fishing has started to slow down with the cooler temperatures, but anglers are still managing good numbers on any given day. Stripers seem to still be hitting cut bait, chicken liver, and mackerel, but the majority have been on the small side. Every now and then a good one is pulled out off a trolled fly or umbrella rig. The largemouth bass have still been chasing shad, mainly off points and ledges. First thing in the morning and later in the evening, anglers have still been seeing boils and have been able to catch a few on finesse and reaction baits. Nightcrawlers have been also getting most of the bites, with all fish coming off the bottom or slowly drifted. Plastics on the drop-shot and fly-line have also been producing. The catfish bite remains steady with a lot of good quality cats being caught. Mackerel, nightcrawlers, and chicken liver seems to be working the best lately. The bluegill and crappie bite remains slow, with the lower lake being the best spot for these species.
