As of December 12th the lake capacity was 46%. We are now into our winter season for both bass and trout. Bass fishing in winter can be very challenging due to colder water temps. When fishing for them, slow dawn as bass are very lethargic. You will want to use jigs, swimbaits, and drop shots. Either fish with big lures such as big swimbaits and 1 oz jigs or downsize to very small lines or plastics. Bass primary stay in deep water, usually 20-30 feet. We did plant trout on December 9th. Unlike bass, trout love the colder water temps so this is the season to trout fish. When fishing for them, trolling is the number one way to catch. Using flicker shad, Rapala, rooster tails and kastmasters will yield the best results. As for color wise, bright or bold such as fire tiger, black/yellow and pinks will stand out better, especially in murkier water. we do sell the lures listed above as well as powerbait and nightcrawlers. Stop by and stock up for this winter season. Further fishing related questions please call the tackle shop ( 805) 688-4040 and ask for Christian.
