The lake held at 85 percent of capacity

Pyramid Lake, CA - Caswell, CA (Los Angeles County)

by Chad Burton and Chris Borden

The lake held at 85 percent of capacity. Be sure to stay in the main channel after launching. Pyramid received two loads of trout last week, and anglers absolutely clobbered the rainbows using the usual baits. Dough baits, minijigs, nightcrawlers, and lures all worked to fill stringers. All the trout also improved the big bait bite for larger striped bass, but striper seemed to prefer cut baits, spoons, and umbrella rigs the most. Overall, striper fishing has been excellent. Bass anglers fooled large and smallmouth with finesse baits and deep diving crankbaits in 15 to 40 feet of water. Bass also fell for vertical spoons. Catfish anglers reported continued good fishing using sardines, chicken liver, and dip bait in deeper coves and the near the marina.
