Fishing at both the lagoon and upper lake has still been doing very well these past few weeks and just keeps getting better. Stripers and Largemouth have been dominating the shad and boiling all over the lake. Kong Island, Elizabeth canyon, Sharron's rest, Government cove and the west walls have been the greatest places to find the stripers. It has still been a strong top water bite for the boils but the cut bait bite is ok but not good as the trolling bite. Umbrella rigs are killing the schools of stripers that are waiting in the deeps trying to ball up the shad. Anchovies and sardines are working as well as nightcrawlers and frozen Shad. The largemouth bite is awesome in the backs of most coves as well as the points and around the Marina and the dam. Lots of largemouth boils are being reported around the west ramp and hawks nest and most of the coves in the fish arm and any top water bait seems to do the trick. Worms, plastics and some small crankbaits are working the catch the bass along the shore lines. Still a few catfish being caught on mackerel and nightcrawlers. The pan fish bite has been very slow at the upper lake but is still going strong at the lower lake all over the shoreline near the camp sites. The largemouth at the lower lake are biting pretty steadily through the nigh into the morning hours, drop shot and Texas rigging seem to be doing best. The fishing pier has been a great place to catch the smaller bass and some pan fish. The spillway has been the place to catch the bigger bass in the early morning to mid day.
