*Upper Lake* Trout Plant 2000 LBS: 03/23/2010
The department of fish and game has planted 2000 LBS of catchable rainbow sized trout at the main ramp on Tuesday March 23. The Dam has been consistently manufacturing quality sized stripers in the evening hours till closing. Anchovies and sardines are still the bait of choice by the shore anglers, and the alternative has been the swim bait fishing. The huddleston has brought in some monsters from the deep and the A.C. plugs are getting slammed on the surface bite. The best spot on the dam for these lunkers is in the far corner of the dam near the no trespassing signs. The largemouth bite has gotten way better over the course of the past week. You can find the largies at the mouths and in the backs of most of the coves and all over Elizabeth Cyn. The bass are biting Jigs and plastics and small shad shaped swim bodies. There are not too many trout hanging around near the ramp anymore but in the corner of the dam and in the cove around the corner to the right of the ramp, there are still big schools of trout for the stripers to bust on. The fishing at the lagoon has been pretty steady and for the most part hasn't changed, but drop shooting worms is still the best rig to use for those finicky bass.
