Fishing is great at Cachuma! Bass are beginning to spawn and can be found in the shallow waters. Best near Santa Cruz where water is murky. Recommend lures with dark colors, red or orange. Crankbaits, jigs, swimbaits and drop shot are all solid options.

Crappie are still good and can be found near Arrowhead Island and Cachuma. Trolling with spoons and small flicker shads or sitting in one spot with crappie jigs or night crawlers works well.

Trout fishing is good and is only going to get better after the plant this upcoming week before the derby! Best methods for trout are still trolling and sitting with power bait. Anything with bright colors works well.
Many anglers have been coming back with Catfish as well. They tend to be spread out through out the lake but they are more common near the island in murky waters. Night crawlers on the bottom always work best.

Our 25th annual fishing derby will be on April 23-24. Registration and more info can be found at the tackle shop.
