The catfish bite has been excellent

Pyramid Lake held at 93 percent of capacity, and the water temperature dropped into the low sixties. Bass anglers reported a good finesse bite in 15 to 30 feet of water on points, bluffs, and over rocky structure. Drop shot, Ned rigs, and C-rigs in Green Pumpkin and root beer seemed to get the most attention, but anglers also fooled fish with early morning crankbaits, and small swimbaits. The striper cut bait bite died last week, but the good news is that bigger striper have been chasing magnum topwater lures and Hud’s near the marina. Striper anglers also used umbrella rigs to boat plenty of schoolie sized line sides. The catfish bite has been excellent with some real behemoths eating chicken liver and dip bait. The trout truck dropped in the second plant of the year last week, and fishing has been good. The usual lineup of dough baits, minijigs and Mousetails worked well in the marina.
