The lake remained near 85 percent of its capacity

Pyramid Lake, CA - Caswell, CA (Los Angeles County)

by Chad Burton and Chris Borden

The lake remained near 85 percent of its capacity with most anglers opting for the better bite at Pyramid over Castaic. Large and smallmouth took Texas rigs, drop shot, and Ned rigs on main lake points and bluff walls in 15 to 40 feet of water. Shad imitating cranks also fooled bass in 10 to 20 feet of water. Striped bass ate cut sardines and lugworms in the marina and inlet channel. They also fell for spoons and jerkbaits on the troll. Trout anglers continue to report rainbows taking dough baits and the occasional spoon or spinner in the marina. Catfish anglers used chicken liver and cut sardines for good results throughout the lake.
