Castaic Lake remained near 80 percent of its storage capacity, and water temperatures rose to 62 degrees. Bass fishing was good in 7 to 15 feet of water. Drop shot and Carolina rigs with four-inch curly tailed worms in baitfish, baby bass, and tequila sunrise produced most of the fish. Anglers focused on points, bluff walls, and cobblestone banks. A Senko bite also developed as anglers reported success with a weightless, near dead-stick presentation. Striped bass were caught by anglers trolling umbrella rigs and fishing vertical spoons and ice jigs. Hefty trout continued to be reported throughout the lake by anglers fishing bass tackle. Catfish anglers reported steady action while using cut bait, dip bait, and chicken liver.
