Castaic Lake rose to 88 percent of its storage capacity, and fishing was solid for both largemouth and smallmouth bass. Finesse baits proved to be the best way to score numbers of one- and two-pound bass, with drop-shot, Carolina rigs, and Senkos producing the best results. Purple, baitfish, brown, and green colors all stuck fish. Plenty of bass were located shallow, but the better bite came in 15 to 20 feet of water. Striped bass reports picked up, with jerkbaits in shad patterns taking linesides close to shore. Catfish ate dip bait, chicken liver, and live worms. One angler also reported limiting on crappie in the Fish Arm while fishing minijigs in 20 feet of water, which was a rare report for Castaic.
