Lake Isabella has dropped slightly to 28% of capacity, with water temperatures holding around 70 degrees. Crappie fishing remains excellent in 5 to 20 feet of water around submerged structure, with anglers landing quality slabs on live shiners and small jigs. Super-small dagger-style mini jigs, Indian Crickets, Get Bent Baits, and 2-inch Keitechs have all been producing, although the best colors and depths continue to change from day to day. Red’s Marina, the North Fork trees, and the cages near Kissack Cove have been some of the more consistent areas. The bass bite remains solid, with early morning topwater action around isolated stick-ups and rock piles on poppers, walking baits, and prop baits. As the sun gets higher, anglers are moving deeper and targeting points in 15 to 25 feet of water with Texas-rigged 8- to 10-inch Rusty’s Big Worms in purple and black/blue. Catfish are showing later in the afternoon and into the evening on SSS Dip Bait, frozen shad, and nightcrawlers. Trout anglers are still finding fish near the North Fork on floating baits, while boaters trolling deeper water near the dam are scoring with Tasmanian Devils, Needlefish, and Flicker Shad.
