Lake Isabella has dropped slightly to 26 percent of capacity, but fishing remains solid. Bass are being found in 5 to 25 feet of water, with the reaction bite still going strong and several fish over 5 pounds reported this week. Crawfish-pattern plastics on Texas rigs, jigs, deep-diving crankbaits, and dark-colored brush hogs or lizards have all been producing. As the day warms, anglers are switching to 6- to 9-inch Texas-rigged worms in purple, Aaron’s Magic, and red craw, targeting points in 15 to 25 feet of water. Catfish action has been excellent around Camp 9 and French Gulch on SSS Dip Bait, shrimp, and mackerel. Crappie fishing remains very good offshore, with mini jigs, Keitechs, and live shiners producing steady catches around Red’s Marina, Engineers, South Fork, and French Gulch. One angler reported limits of quality crappie up to 2 pounds around structure in 8 to 15 feet of water on 2" keitechs. No trout reports came in this week.
