The Department of Fish and Game did a surprise trout plant of 900 # on Wednesday March 30.
Striper fishing is showing signs of picking up recently. A few stripers have been caught around the ramp and the dam on anchovies and sardines. The swimbait bite for stripers hasn't been that great. The largies at the upper lake have been doing great all day long on plastics and nightcrawlers. You can sight fish for most of these largies because in some parts of the lake the water is clear for 25 to 30 feet.
The nightcrawlers are still working great at the lagoon for the largies catfish and carp. The carp are everywhere at the upper lake and boiling (not to be mistaken for stripers) in some coves.
Crappie are still biting at the lower lagoon on the Berkley maggots and wax worms. At the buoy line some of the better striper action has been coming from mackerel being fished around 80 to 100 feet.

Castaic Lake Fish Report for the week ending March 5
Castaic LakeThe Department of Fish and Game stocked the west ramp with 900 lbs. of catchable sized rainbow trout on Thursday March 3rd. Fishing is still pretty tough at the upper lake, even with all of the trout plants we have been getting. These fish can be found but they still won't bite. Sometimes the stripers will come up and bite for a couple of hours, but then they are gone. You can try chasing them but they only seem to bite...... Read More
Castaic Lake Fishing Report
Castaic LakeStill to this day the stripers have not yet shown up. It has been really difficult to catch those double digits. The largemouth bite has still been ok but since the water is so cold they are hanging out in deeper waters. Hopefully the "fish bite" will soon pick up. You might still be able to get the stripers on cut bait back by the buoy line, Kong island and even C-point still. The largies...... Read More
