The water temperatures last week have the bass moving in to as little as 3' of water, and both species were taking a wide variety of baits. The west end of the lake had smallmouth stacked up on main and secondary points; and were caught on jigs, jerkbaits, and spinnerbaits. The largies were caught through out the lake on jigs, creatures, blades, and cranks.
Trout fishing was fair for trollers in Santa Cruz Bay, around Arrowhead Island and the narrows. The 'bows were hitting needlefish, Kastmasters, Rapalas and Owner Cultivas from the surface to 15'.
The narrows was also the location for Crappie; and C.D. Rapalas and nightcrawlers accounted for Slabs to 2 lbs. The little bit of rain early in the week had the catfish on the prowl, and there were a couple of limits taken last week on fresh 'chovies, but location were closely guarded. Bow fishing has been sporadic, but there were a few larger carp reported around the island and the narrows. All other species were slow.

The bass bite turned on again at Cachuma this week, both smallies & largies went on the chew.
Cachuma LakeSpinnerbaits, creatures, jigs and drop shot all worked well and fish were being caught all over the lake in 10 to 25 feet of water. Trout fishing is still sporadic, but some nice catches were reported by those trolling from Cachuma Bay to Santa Cruz point with Rapalas, Kastmasters and Thomas buoyants from the surface to 15'. Crappie are still being taken in the narrows, and trolling smaller minnow imitations are the best bet. Bow fishing has also...... Read More
