The cold nights and temperate days of Fall have kicked the trout season into high gear at the Lakes with anglers using power bait ( especially sherbet, rainbow, yellow and lemon twist ), night crawlers seasoned with garlic, jigs and lures are all catching limits. Lots and lots of limits were caught with many large ( over 3 pound) trout caught as well. Hot spots included the grassy point, eastern and western shores of lake 3 as well as the northern, eastern and southern shores of lake 2. Catfish are hitting mackerel, shrimp and chicken livers on the western and eastern shores of lake 2.

Catches of the week: Thirteen year old, Jake Wolf of Apple Valley, scored a 4 lb 12 ozs rainbow on a Chartruse power worm while fishing the northeastern shore of lake 3. Nick Perez of Walnut caught a 4 lbs 9 ozs rainbow on a Lip Ripperz worm while fishing the eastern shore of lake 2. Nick Maldonado, also of Walnut scored a 4 lbs 8 ozs rainbow on the northern shore of lake 2 using a Lip Ripperz as well. Mitch Caswell of Alta Loma caught a 4 lb 6 ozs rainbow on a silver Kastmaster while fishing the western shore of lake 3. Victorville angler, Mark Harwell reeled in a nice 3 lbs 5 ozs trout using a gold Kastmaster near the southeastern inlet of lake 2. Ten year old, Shawn Michaels of Duarte, caught his 3 lbs 14 ozs rainbow on lemon twist power bait while fishing on the grassy point of lake 3. North Carolina angler, Bob Stone caught a 10 lbs 9 ozs catfish using mackerel on the eastern shore of lake 2. Joel Adams of San Bernardino caught a 5 lbs 9 ozs rainbow at the inlet of lake 2 using a peach crappie jig/mealworm combo. Another San Bernardino angler, Ryan Sinn used a Combat jig to catch his 6 lbs 10 ozs trout near the inlet of lake 2. His brother Todd Sinn, also from San Bernardino reeled in 4 lbs 5 ozs and 4 lbs 12 ozs rainbows using a yellow and white Combat jig. Chris Simpson of Palmdale scored a 5 lb 3 ozs ruby red steelhead on a gold Jake while fishing the northeastern shore of lake 3.??

Trout bite was excellent with anglers using 12 to 14 inch leaders, power bait ( especially rainbow, lime twist, lemon twist), night crawlers, jigs and lures ( especially Jakes, Panther Martins).
