Cold weather bringing surface temp down calling striper up this week. Shad are going deeper taking LMB for the ride, but they are still chewing. Striper are coming up in search of big boats. Although bucktails and kastmaster on the bottom to 40-60 feet still taking decent fish. Anglers floating frozen shad are also scoring fish to 8 pounds. Chovies also taking fish from the dam west ramp areas and to the right of the marina.

Steve Burns from Fullerton caught a 3 striper weighing in at 7.2 pounds on frozen shad near the west ramp. Terry Snyder from little creek caught a 26.5 striper on swim bait in the fish arm. Tom Ohanalin from Bakersfield caught a carp on some berkley corn nuggets off the west ramp.

High winds made it tough all the way around cispite. This weeks trout plants: 1500 in the upper, 1300 in the lower. Launch ramp closure due to high winds, which made it a shore angler bite. As tough as it was, some nice stripers to 8 pounds were reported along with loads of schoolie size. LMB in the mix as well to 2 pounds on shad imitations. Stripers are hotting cut bait.
