Over the past few weeks, people have been catching trout along the rip rap in front of the bait shop during the first few hours of the day on nightcrawlers, mice tails, and garlic or salmon egg scented powerbaits. Many anglers are still catching catfish on sardines and chicken liver off sandy banks and down deep throughout the various coves of the lake. Most people who have been catching stripers are still trolling around the marina, Chumash Island, and Serrano cove using Alabama or umbrella rigs, larger kastmasters, and deeper diving jerkbaits. Some stripers and trout have been pulled out from the canal up front by the entrance booth off nightcrawlers and sardines as well but typically when the water is flowing into the lake. Bass have also been caught even though conditions are a bit tough off deep diving jerkbaits, umbrella rigs, and worms.
