The department of fish and game stocked the upper lake on Wednesday June 15th with rainbow trout also. Still more signs of shad but no catch yet. Stripers and Largemouth Bass are boiling around large balls of bait all over the lake. Dam fishing for stripers is still a little slow but will hopefully pick up soon. the Fore Bay buoy line is still doing phenomenal on sardines and anchovies as well as the little 1/8 oz Kastmasters, any color. The trolling bite for stripers is still doing very well. Kind of a hit and miss thing though, the bite will be on for two to three days then shut off for a day. The largemouth bass bite has been extremely well too. They are still catching them on night crawlers and plastics in the backs of the coves and on the points. The best techniques that have been working lately have been drop shotting, wacky riggings, texas rigging and fly lining plastics. These techniques with work at both the upper and lower lakes. The largemouth bite has been exceptionally well at night near the spillway using shad imitations but seems to shut off after dawn. The Crappie and Bluegill bite has been doing fantastic still. People are still catching them in Hawks Nest and Old SS on the south east shorelines of the coves. The next moonlight fishing will take place on Saturday July 11th at 8:00 PM at the Upper Lake on the main ramp. The next moonlight float-tube tournament will take place at the lagoon on July 10th from 6 PM till midnight. For more information on the moonlight fishing please visit Castaiclake.com
