Lake Isabella increased to 65 percent of its storage capacity this week. Bass are being found all over the lake, with both the North Fork and South Fork producing quality fish. Jerkbaits, crankbaits, and jigs are all getting bit right now. Fish are holding in 5 to 20 feet of water around rocky points and tree lines in the North Fork. Cope’s Pro Staff member Rusty Brown landed an impressive bass weighing in at 10 pounds that put up a great fight after crushing a crankbait. Shakey heads, spinnerbaits, and Senkos are also continuing to generate quality bites. Shore anglers found trout with Mousetails, Garlic scented Powerbait, spinners, trout worms, and GULP! Pinched Crawlers. Boat anglers trolling lead core have had success with Needlefish, Tasmanian Devils, and Flicker Shad. The crappie bite has been best later in the day, and they are still relatively shallow. The key is being versatile and moving around to find the correct structure with biting fish. Most of the fish being reported are coming in 5 to 15 feet of water on minijigs and live minnows.
