Striper fishing is still holding strong in the afternoon near the west ramp. At the end of last week there were hundreds upon thousands of dead shad near the west ramp just floating on the top while the stripers boiled on them till the sun went down. Along with the dead shad hundreds of dead baby and full grown largies have also been spotted all over the lake. The reason for this is unknown, but the upper lake was definitely not bluestoned. This only affected fishing in some areas of the lake. It either made it better for the time being or it made it worse. The stripers however didn't really seem to be affected by this, the continued to bite all over most of the lake all weekend. The top water bite is still doing great for the stripers, for the largies a fluke and some Berkley realistic minnows are the trick. You still can find some shad that are alive near the marina and in some coves. Largies boil for most of the morning and afternoon around the marina but only for a day or two then they disappear for a day two. Sammies, Bobby G's and Berkley Jerkshad are great baits around the marina for the largies. Down the dam the majority of the stripers have been caught on cut bait but they still bite the top water baits.
