We're leaving tonight on a 2 day open party trip. We're taking out a light load, about 16 anglers or so. This is going to be a great trip for the guys on board, plenty of elbow room at the rail and room to spread out in the bunk room.
Our last trip was a 1.5 day last weekend and we only had 13 Yellowtail. We found a lot of good looking water under a beautiful sky. We also came across a lot of kelp paddies. Those paddies just weren't holding many fish at the time.
The first Albacore of the year were caught on a 1.5 day trip about 90 miles out. On a 2 day trip we'll have plenty of time to go that far or more if we have to. We're definitely after Albacore and Yellowtail.
We're hoping we have good news when we return to the Landing Sunday night. Remember, you can't catch fish if you don't go fishin'.

6-4-2007The first Albacore of the season have been caught!! The Royal Star, fishing 90 miles from San Diego, boated the first Albies of the year. So far they have only registered in with three fish weighing 22 - 25 pounds but we have to start somewhere. This may be a good sign. The Albacore are supposed to arrive around this time. Last year they came in April and were out of here by the end of June. Let's all hope...... Read More
