Even with the full moon rising on Sunday night, trout bite was excellent with anglers catching lots of limits. Some complained about catching their limits too quickly, even using one pole. Power bait ( especially sherbet, lime twist, rainbow and orange), night crawlers ( inflated and doused with garlic), lures, jigs and senkos all scored nice sized limits of trout ( many near or over two pounds and some over 4 lbs). Hot spots included the eastern logged shore and western shore from the pump house to the bridge of lake 3 as well as the northern, western and eastern shores of lake 2. Bass are in pre-spawn and anglers report good action on both lakes using drop shot, spinner bait and senkos. Hot spots for bass include the southeastern shore of lake 2 near the wall and the northern shore of lake 3 near the pump house. Bluegill aren't up yet but if the warm weather trend holds they should be in pre-spawn by early May.

Catches of the Week: Manuel Areola of Victorville came in the late afternoon to do a little fishing and reeled in a nice 8 lbs 6 ozs rainbow using a night crawler on the north shore of lake 2. Crystal Wylie of Anaheim scored a 6 lbs 14 ozs rainbow on Nymph Power Bait while fishing near the pump house on lake 3. Lakewood angler, Russell Ung, caught a 6 lbs 2 ozs trout to limit on a night crawler near the logged eastern shore of lake 3. His friend, Rick Trudeau of La Verne, also caught a limit and a 5 lbs 14 ozs rainbow using a Power Bait/night crawler combo. Colton angler, Juan Montano, limited with a 3 lbs 10 ozs rainbow caught on orange power bait near the inlets of lake 2. Joe Ormonde of Phelan caught a 5 lbs trout on a 1 oz Firetiger Roostertail near the inlets on the north shore of lake 2. Eleven year old Tristen Cruz of Montrose fished with his grand-dad and caught a five fish limit that weighed 10 lbs 3 ozs and included a 2 lbs 3 ozs rainbow. All were caught on the Chunky Cheese Gulp and Salmon Peach Power Bait on the north shore of lake 2. Forrest Hills angler, David Arnold, caught his 3 lbs 13 ozs rainbow on Bubblegum Power Bait on the western shore of lake 2.

The Lakes' Hatchery stocks trout every Friday year round.

Hours: Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays--7am to 4pm. For more information call (760)240-1107 or go to www.jessranchlakesnews.com.
