The lake fluctuated between 90 and 92 percent of capacity, and water temperatures stayed in the high sixties and low seventies. The lake was busy as word of the striped bass bite spread, with stripers boiling as the lake opened in nearly every cove. Yellowbar, the marina, and Serrano were among the many hot spots. Anglers used poppers, walking baits, white soft jerkbaits, and spoons to land plenty of smaller fish along with numerous fish in the five-pound range. Cut sardines also filled stringers, with several reports of limit-style bait fishing. Largemouth and smallmouth bass were just as cooperative, with drop shots, Senkos, spinnerbaits, and jerkbaits taking fish from 5 to 30 feet deep, while points and bluff walls served as key locations. Catfish anglers also did well using chicken liver and dip bait.
