Lake Isabella remained at 24 percent of capacity this week, but bass fishing continues to be strong. One of our contacts reported consistent action on Rapala DT 10 and DT 14 crankbaits in shad and brown crawdad patterns. Brown and black 3/8-ounce football jigs are also producing fish around Rocky Point and Piney Point, with the best bite coming in 15 to 25 feet of water. Crappie fishing remains productive, although the bite has slowed and anglers are having to put in a little more effort to find fish. Red’s Marina and French Gulch continue to produce crappie on minijigs and small live shiners. Catfish action has slowed with the cooler temperatures, but anglers are still picking up fish using SSS dip bait, shad, and cut mackerel. Trout fishing remains challenging, with a few fish being caught on artificial lures in the North Fork.
