This week, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife stocked trout at Ming Lake, adding to the numerous plants that have taken place over the past two months. Trout action remains steady, with anglers finding success on mini jigs, spinners, pinched nightcrawlers, and garlic-scented PowerBait. Bass action has been fair to good, with fish coming on drop shots, crankbaits, and jigs. Several anglers reported success using drop-shot rigs and Senkos in green pumpkin and shad patterns. Bluegill and baby bass-style swimbaits have also picked up a few quality bites. Bluegill are biting well on wax worms, mealworms, and red worms, while crappie action has been best during the late afternoon hours on mini jigs and live shiners.
