Anglers enjoyed excellent fishing at Pyramid Lake last week, with all species biting well.
Striped bass stole the show, as anglers using umbrella rigs consistently landed fish up to 10 pounds. Plenty of smaller "shakers" were also caught. Both largemouth and smallmouth bass were on a strong bite. In the stained water, small swimbaits and jerkbaits produced well, while weightless Senkos, drop-shot rigs, and Carolina rigs were highly effective when fished along bluff walls and points. Green pumpkin, watermelon, and brown proved to be the best colors.
Catfish anglers also had good success using cut mackerel, dip bait, and chicken liver, targeting deeper coves.
