Lake Isabella rose to 61% of capacity this week, with water temperatures holding in the mid-60s. Reports from local anglers indicate excellent crappie action over the past several days, with limit-style fishing for slab crappie in 5 to 10 feet of water using white or chartreuse mini jigs, as well as live shiners. Bass action has also been good, with anglers catching fish on shaky heads and Senkos near submerged trees. Others are finding bass in deeper water off main lake points using big worms, deep-diving crankbaits, trout imitation swimbaits, and crawdad-pattern baits. The trout bite continues to be very good, with shore anglers finding success on mini jigs, various Powerbait offerings, pinched crawlers, Rooster Tails, and Mice Tails. Boaters are doing well trolling lead core with Flicker Shad, Tasmanian Devils, and Needlefish. Catfish are still showing up in good numbers, with cut baits such as shad and anchovies producing steady success.
