Pyramid Lake remained at maximum capacity, and water temperatures were near 67 degrees. The bite was slow early and mid-week, as east winds and a passing cold front put the bass bite off balance, but it improved as the weather stabilized and temperatures rose. Striped bass remained the best bet, though there was a definite technique to getting into the zone using larger profile lures and umbrella rigs. Downriggers and lead core line helped anglers reach the 25- to 60-foot depths where striped bass were holding. Largemouth and smallmouth bass took Senkos, drop-shot rigs, and Texas rigs near Serrano Cove and Yellowbar, while some crankbait action was reported along ledges and bluff walls. Catfish were caught on Carolina-rigged cut sardines, dip bait, and chicken liver, and an angler from Los Angeles reported landing a 12-pound fish on a whole anchovy.
