Lake Isabella has increased to 64 percent of its capacity this week and continues to rise, improving overall fishing conditions. Crappie have been making a strong showing over the past couple of weeks, with reports of limit-style fishing using live shiners, Keitech Easy Shiner 2-inch swimbaits, and white or yellow mini jigs. Anglers are finding success near the cages and structure in Kissack Cove and Paradise Cove. The bass bite has also improved significantly, with fish being caught on mid-diving jerkbaits and crankbaits, while Zoom Trick Worms on Shakey heads and natural shad-pattern Senkos are producing consistent action around trees, stick-ups, and other structure. The trout bite remains very good following the Isabella Lake fishing derby, with shore anglers catching fish on mini jigs, garlic-scented Powerbait, pinched crawlers, Roostertails, and Mice Tails. Boaters are doing well trolling leadcore with Flicker Shad, Tasmanian Devils, and Needlefish. The catfish bite has improved as well, with anglers catching fish on SSS Dip Bait, cut mackerel, and sardines, especially during the evening hours.
