At Lake Isabella, water levels climbed to 63 percent of storage capacity this week, and fishing remains excellent across multiple species. Crappie action has been nonstop, with anglers finding quality slabs in 5 to 10 feet of water. Live minnows continue to be the top producer, while minijigs in white and chartreuse, black shad, and electric shad are also getting it done. Keitechs, Get Bent Baits, and Berkley jigs have all been effective as well. The bass bite really took off this week, with anglers reporting quality fish while flipping trees, working drop shots, and fishing jigs along drop-off points, while others are finding success throwing swimbaits in less than 5 feet of water. Trout fishing remains very good following the recent Isabella Fishing Derby, with fish biting a wide variety of offerings. The best action has come on minijigs, garlic-scented Powerbait, GULP! Pinched Crawlers, spoons, and Mice Tails, while boaters are also doing well trolling Flicker Shad, Tasmanian Devils, and Needlefish.
