Pyramid Lake rose to 87 percent of its storage capacity, and water temperatures were in the upper fifties. Prior to the recent storms, bass anglers did well on both largemouth and smallmouth. Texas rigs, drop shots, and Carolina rigs in green pumpkin, orange crusher, and margarita mutilator were effective from 10 to 40 feet deep, and a slow presentation was key. Some anglers reported a crankbait bite in about 15 feet of water in Serrano Cove and along rocky points. Striped bass responded to cut baits in Yellowbar and near the marina, but trolling was otherwise the best way to get their attention. Catfish anglers used dip bait and chicken liver with good results in deeper coves around the lake.
