While water clarity and temperature were perfect for excellent fishing

The lake level dropped to 65 percent of storage capacity, while water clarity and temperature were perfect for excellent fishing. The nonstop feeding frenzy at Naci continued as bass anglers boated countless spotted bass on a wide variety of presentations, including topwater baits, drop shots, shaky heads, and darter head grubs. Color choice seemed to be a non-issue, though green pumpkin, oxblood, and baitfish patterns topped the list. Keitechs, underspins, square-billed crankbaits, jerkbaits, and chatterbaits also fooled plenty of bass. White bass chased down topwater lures, small swimbaits, and spoons, and one angler reported an amazing day targeting them on live minnows. Crappie fell for mini jigs tipped with Crappie Nibbles and small swimbaits in 10 to 20 feet of water, while catfish were available to anglers Carolina rigging cut sardines, mackerel, and dip bait.

Pyramid Lake, CA: Water clarity remained poor, but the fishing stayed good
Lake Isabella: The bass bite remains solid
Kern River: Water flows on the Upper Kern River have increased as snowmelt continues
Lake Kaweah: Kaweah rose sharply to 43 percent of capacity, and that trend will likely continue
Lake Success: Success rose to 60 percent of capacity, and bass fishing remained good
River Walk Lakes: The bite has been steady
Ming Lake: At Lake Ming, the spring bass bite is in full swing
Buena Vista Lakes: Trout anglers continued to catch rainbows at BV
