At Ming, the bass bite has turned on and is in full spring mode, with local reports of excellent action on buzzbaits, frogs, and poppers during the morning and evening hours. Five-inch swimbaits are continuing to produce quality fish, while plastics like the Missile Baits D-Bomb “Magic” in green pumpkin, brown/purple, and sprayed grass are picking up additional bites. Drop shots are generating numbers, but better-quality bass have been coming on spinnerbaits early in the morning. As the day progresses, crappie are actively chasing mini jigs and small to medium live shiners, and the bluegill bite has been excellent on wax worms and meal worms. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife stocked trout here two weeks ago, and holdover fish are still being caught on garlic-scented baits, trout jigs, and spinners
